Call to order

A meeting of the Bay Area Amateur Radio Club was held on Oct 12th,2023, at the Salvation Army building, Bay City, MI. Board members in attendance: president Steve Covieo (ke8nko), vice president Loren Curtis (kf8f), Dusty Trisch (k1dlt), and secretary Bill Baylis (ke8nkn). The meeting was called to order at 7pm. 

Reports

Treasurer’s report: current bank statement read.

Secretary’s report: notes read into record. A motion was made to accept these notes. The motion was seconded, and passed.

Old Business

The President read changes to By-Laws voted in at September’s month meeting.

New Business

At 7:10pm New business was suspended and the Meeting closed for nominations for 2024 Board.

Nominations:

• For Vice President: Loren kf8f
• For Treasure: Dusty k1dlt
• For Secretary: BIll ke8nkn
• for 3 yr Trusty: Jon Dee ke8usu, or Steve ke8tsj

Nominations were closed at 7:17pm, and the club meeting was reopened.

Club member Steve stated the Net was continuing to do well. He asked members for Net topics ideas and suggested they could post them on Discord.

President stated the 360 might be shut  down, no date at this time. The County building is going through a remodel.

President stated the board had received approval to have December’s (14th) pot luck dinner at the Salvation Army.

• Cheesy Broccoli & rice casserole; Bill
• Cheese cake; Jon Dee
• Veggie bean salad; Dusty
• Buns;

President stated he would put a list on Discord and members could add to it.

President talked about a monetary donation to the Salvation Army, members agreed. It was also suggested that members could volunteer to be “Red Kettle Ringers” the day after Thanksgiving. Club will need to get with Major Rick for more details. Volunteers for bell ringers; Jon Dee, Dusty, Bill, and both Steve’s.

President asked members to send pictures of their stations either Discord or the club’s Email.

Presentations

Loren talked about the preparations he had done for the upcoming Auxcomm exercise on Oct 14th. The focus this year was on Server Weather. He said he would be using P.A.C.E. Which stands for Primary, Alternate, Contingency, Emergency as our plan. The following people assist with this exercise; Rob, Dusty, and Bill.

Motion to end the meeting was made, motion second, and passed. Meeting ended at 8:18pm. There were 11 members in attendance.
