March 2025 Meeting Minutes

Call to order

A meeting of the Bay Area Amateur Radio Club was held on March 13th, 2025, at the Salvation Army building, Bay City, MI. Board members in attendance: president Steve Covieo (ke8nko), treasurer Dusty Trisch (k1dlt), secretary Bill Baylis (ke8nkn), and Net Control Coordinator Steve Czamecki (ke8tsj). The meeting was called to order at 7pm, with the pledge of Allegiance.

Reports

Treasurer’s report: was read.

Secretary’s report: notes from the February meeting were read, there were no additional comments made. A motion was made to accept these notes into record. The motion was seconded, and passed.

Old Business

None.

New Business

President gave a brief detail of what stations would be installed into club H.T.’s. He stated a master listing of these stations would be available.

He also talked about the Club’s FaceBook page and the need for an update. The site currently has over 500 followers. Steve (ke8tsj) has graciously volunteered to make the needed updates.

The Net Controller asked for volunteers to help run our Nets. Richard (kj4fac) stated he was interested.

President asked if there was interest in setting up an event at Edison ship, on June 7th – 8th. A number of members seem interested. He will be contacting a Edison representative (Lou) for additional details. There was also interest in holding a POTA event at the Bay City park, dates not yet confirmed.

Members ask if there was a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)  in this area. The President stated there were none, but if membership was interested we might want to pursue the Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (S.A.T.U.R.N.). He suggested anyone interested begin by taking the online training courses offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Presentations

Gary gave a presentation on soldering a PL-259 onto a coaxial cable.

Announcements 

Skywarn training for Bay City will be April 9th, TBD

Next coffee hour will be held on Mar 22th at Zef’s.

Adjournment

A motion to end the meeting was made and seconded. Motion passed and the meeting ended at 7:50pm. There were a total of 15 people in attendance, 14 members, and 1 guest.
