Call to order

A meeting of the Bay Area Amateur Radio Club was held on Nov 9th ,2023, at the Salvation Army building, Bay City, MI. Board members in attendance: president Steve Covieo (ke8nko), Dusty Trisch (k1dlt), and secretary Bill Baylis (ke8nkn). The meeting was called to order at 7:03pm.

Treasurer’s report:

Secretary’s report: notes from the October meeting were read into record. A motion was made to accept these notes. The motion was seconded, and passed.

New Business

Motion made to suspend the meeting to vote on nominaties for 2024 board, motion was seconded, and passed. Meeting was suspended at 7:08pm.

Club Trustee’s Dean and Rob read  nominations for the following positions: president, Steve (ke8nko), Vice President Loren (kf8f), secretary Bill (ke8nkn), treasure Dusty (k1dlt). Treasure’s position will be a 3 year term starting 2024, 2 year Trustee Dean (kc8bgk), 1 year Trustee Rob (kc8sdl). 

Nominaties for the 3 year Trustee position were Joe (ka8fhw), Steve (ke8tsj), and Jon Dee (kc8usu). A paper ballet was taken with Steve winning the nomination. 

A motion was made to close nomination for all positions, there was no objections. Motion was seconded, and passed. Trustee Dean made a motion to accept all nominations, motion was seconded, and passed. Meeting was reopened at 7:23pm.

President asked members if a donation would be acceptable to give to the Salvation Army, members said yes!  Secretary will cut a check for that amount and get a card to give to Major Rick at the club’s December potluck gathering.

President suggested that we start the December meeting at 6pm so we have more time for potluck dinner. He also recommended members come at 5:30pm to get everything setup. Club member Joe will be bringing sauces and members Doug & Vickie will be bringing Jambalaya. President said we should plan on a total of 30 people attending. 

President spoke to members interested in DMR. He volunteered to assist anyone in getting their HT’s set up, or answering any question they might have. Club members who owned a DMR radio were George, Steve, Joe, Dusty, Paul, and Bill.

Announcements

John Covieo said that on December 9th there will be a presentation on Roberts Rules of order and the Michigan constitution at Jay’s Sporting Goods store in Clara.

A motion was made to close the meeting, motion was seconded, and passed. Meeting closed at 8:03pm. There were 12 members in attendance and 2 guests.
